Help & FAQ

Everything you need to know about the Bolus pilot

How the Bolus Pilot Works

Bolus reduces mealtime friction for people using insulin. We plan and carb-count weekly meals, generate supermarket-ready baskets, and adapt future plans using simple CGM trends you share (Dexcom/Libre). The company-funded pilot lets us learn quickly while keeping quality high.

What you get

  • Weekly meal plans focused on balanced carbs and real foods, matched to your preferences
  • Grocery checkout via your usual supermarket using retailer links (you review and pay the retailer directly)
  • CGM-informed adaptation: simple weekly metrics guide next week’s plan (no dosing changes)
  • Access to your dashboard and a short weekly feedback loop

What we ask of you

  • Share weekly CGM summaries (Dexcom/Libre). If automated retrieval is available, we’ll offer it; otherwise a simple CSV upload works.
  • Try at least three dinners and three lunches per week from your plan (swaps welcome)
  • Complete a 1–2 minute check-in so we can adapt the next plan
  • Cost: Free during the pilot. Launch pricing anticipated at ~£30/month.

Rolling cohorts & waitlist

We admit new participants in weekly cohorts to maintain support quality. If this week is full, we’ll add you to the waitlist and notify you when your cohort opens.

How your data is used

We analyse simple CGM metrics—average glucose, time-in-range, highs/lows, and sensor wear—to adapt the meal plan. We do not provide insulin dosing advice. Data is encrypted and stored on UK-based infrastructure. You can request deletion at any time.

Clinical status

Bolus is not medical care and does not replace your diabetes team. It complements standard care and follows publicly available NICE nutrition principles for people using insulin. We’re engaging clinicians as the pilot grows.

Affiliate disclosure

We may use affiliate links to Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Ocado, and others. You pay normal retail prices to the supermarket; affiliate commissions help fund the pilot. Links don’t change which items you can choose or how you check out.

Frequently Asked Questions

🕐 Can I leave anytime?
Yes. Participation is free during the company-funded pilot. After the pilot, ongoing access is anticipated to be ~£30/month. You can stop anytime.
🍲 What do I actually get each week?
A weekly set of carb-counted recipes plus supermarket links to pre-build your basket. You can swap items before checkout and you always pay the retailer directly. We’ll ask for a quick end-of-week check-in so we can adapt the next plan.
💉 Does Bolus replace my diabetes team?
No. Bolus does not provide medical care or insulin dosing guidance. It’s a planning tool that complements your usual clinical support.
🧠 Do dietitians or doctors check the plans?
Our templates follow publicly available NICE nutrition principles for people using insulin. We’re engaging clinicians to review the approach as we scale. During the pilot, we focus on practical, household-friendly meals and CGM-informed adjustments (no dosing).
📈 How does Bolus use my CGM data?
We use simple weekly metrics—average glucose, Time-in-Range, and highs/lows—to guide future meal plans. We don’t change medications and we don’t share data outside Bolus. Data is encrypted, UK-hosted, and deletable on request.
🧾 What Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM) does it support?
At this stage, only Libre and Dexcom. However it's likely that other CGMs will be supported in the future.
🛒 Do you deliver the food?
We generate retailer links (e.g., Tesco, Sainsbury’s) so you can review and check out directly with your chosen supermarket. Some stores support pre-filled baskets; where they don’t, we link to the exact product pages for quick add-to-basket.
👥 Who can join?
Adults using bolus insulin and a CGM (Libre or Dexcom). We onboard in weekly cohorts to keep support quality high. If a cohort is full, you’ll join the waitlist for the next one.
🔒 What happens to my data if I leave?
All personal and glucose data can be permanently deleted on request—email pilot@bolus.app. We don’t share data with third parties for marketing.
